It all started almost 10 years ago while strolling through the streets of a city in Mozambique. I had witnessed remarkable things and realized there was a story that had to be told. No, better yet, seen. I gave up trying to describe my experiences, and produced a video to share them with those who asked about my trip. I had already created hundreds of advertising, marketing and design campaigns over the course of 25 years, taking companies to new heights through stories and messages in print and on the web. But, it was on that trip to Africa that my passion for Digital Storytelling was born. There is unrelenting power in video. It gave voice where words and static pictures just weren’t enough. So, I built upon my expertise for brand communications, founded bthestory, and started telling the stories of individuals, organizations and businesses alike . . . what’s your story?

Much of my youth was spent putting together slide shows, compliments of a boom-box mix tape, and hundreds of pictures of family and friends. All the necessary ingredients needed to create the perfect story. The thrill of being able to entertain was like no other. Not surprisingly, my college years were spent immersed in broadcast and production classes. I was behind the camera, in the control room, director, producer… you name it, I did it. But then a fork in the road… fresh out of school, I couldn’t pass up an amazing job in the world of sales and marketing. But my passion remained behind-the-scenes, creating meaningful and emotionally driven stories. Fortunate enough to reconnect with two of my fellow high school alums, I found my way back to Digital Storytelling, and where I belong . . . what’s your story?

My story was born many moons ago in the analog world of low budget video production. I cut my teeth on corporate video, infomercials, trade show product demos and community cable television. Eventually I found my way to the top with an exhilarating career working for Harpo Studios on The Oprah Winfrey Show. I’ve served as a writer, director, shooter, editor and Emmy award-winning producer. I love telling stories, but the greatest satisfaction comes from helping others tell theirs. We’ve all been inspired by a simple video gone viral or found ourselves captivated by an experience on the big screen, but Digital Storytelling is more than just a message in motion. It’s the perfect choice of background music with a crescendo and final beat at just the right moment. It’s museum-worthy graphic design. It’s that gorgeous camera angle and framing. The seamless rhythm and pacing. A well-thought-out production. My story has led me here, where I can enthusiastically collaborate with old friends and apply all of my skills to help you tell yours.
